| Hey all,
I'm finally getting some time to post here. My history goes like this. I started fighting early on as the middle of three brothers growing up on a farm in South Central Pennsylvania in the 1960's (yeah I'm getting old at 48 yoa). My father was a state champion level wrestler and a golden gloves boxer so these were my initial exposure to actual fighting styles, but I also had a temper so dad thought maybe some of the Eastern philosophy might help settle me down. I started karate at age twelve and eventually got my blackbelt. I then went through various arts to include some Judo, Pai Lum kung fu, TKD, and a few others.
I travelled extensively for a few years after college and eventually became a police officer attaining the rank of Sgt. where I am still employed after 22 years in the field. I became interested in refining my martial skills into combatives early in my career and about five years ago started working on Haganah with a training partner as a base, but have since added a lot of other influences like Rich and Hock.
I'll get around to posting a picture soon to go along with the trend here.
Keep safe and train hard/smart, Mark H |

| Hi Mark Glad you made it Didn't know you trained with Hock too. I did quite a bit of training with his head guy here in the UK Joe Hubbard. You must have had the chance to find what works and what doesn't having spent 22 in the field. PS - I'd say plain old late |

| Nice to hear from you Mark. An actual LEO with real world experience. By god, it's gold dust.
Will be very interested to hear about Haganah. I have some of Kanarek's vids. I like the simplicity of response. Quite similar to what I train actually, more Kapap than Krav-maga.
So glad you have migrated over.
Hock. Are you on his forum? I sometimes have a read of it.
Take care, Mate. |

| Thanks for the welcome.
Sharif, I try to train with Hock whenever he's in Pennsylvania ( missed his last visit due to car accident) but I have many of his books and DVD's as well as a few of Joe's. I see Joe has his own website similar to Hock's ( by the way Hock is fun to train with).
Blackops, Yes I occassionally post on Hock's forum as Hessian1.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
Yeah Joe has his own thing set up. Has done for a while now. He trains CP guys in CQC for a private security company in South Africa these days (he goes out there about 3 times a year I think). Hock is one of the most charismatic instructors out there. I did a weekend PAC bootcamp thing with him here in England. Turns out we trained with the same guys in the Philippines too so we had lots to chat about. That and the fact that my last name (when properly pronounced) sounds like "Hock". I posted a couple of vids of him on the old forum just before it got locked. Maybe I'll re-post it here.
Haven't been there for a while, but you'll see my username (same as here) on Hocks forum too.

| Sharif,
Your right about the charisma. Did he do his Sean Connery impression for you guys? I plan on attending his next seminar in the ares, June I think, his recent DVD on stick use looks like alot of the stuff he taught for using the baton for takedowns, throws, and locks.
