Had a great time this past weekend. All day Sat. I was teaching empty hand, but then on Sun. I got to play and learn. Learned a few things too. Great group of instructors and talent. Long exhausting days... that's for sure. Everyone was very receptive to the empty hand and there were some moments of enlightenment for sure.

Here is one of the courses of fire.

Multiple threat, start with car in gear and seat belt fastened. deal with threat through passenger front and rear windows, put vehicle in park and deal with the seat belt (cross hand), then deal with 5 additional threats after exiting vehicle. oh and, don't shoot your passenger or the car.

I went slow and deliberate on purpose for this one. Because of the proximity of my partner and it wasn't my vehicle... lol. Somebody did end up putting to rounds in the bumper and skipped one off the hood.

Slow and deliberate is good. I suspect the car took rounds because somebody was trying to be Tom Cruise from Collateral before they were ready for that speed.

Speed holes.

Looks like great fun, really must require a high level of competency even to consider.

Next stop, SAS style killing house.. Suspect

Only joking, these drills must really maximise the effectiveness of having a handgun.

Maybe a bit of that or just too excited and not paying attention. I didn't see it happen, only the aftermath.

well, I find drills like this help me to be more conscious of my surroundings, the dangers of innocents in the area and the troubles that obstacles and other items like seat belts can be. First timers shooting inside a vehicle get a little dump then you add someone's face near the weapon when firing adds another stress factor that they have to deal with. Then when you switch places, they get that percussion in your face or close proximity. Good stuff.

Just got around to this thread... looks to me that the person doing the shooting was hugging the cover and didn't take into accounte that this changes the relationship to the sighting vs muzzle relationship. The toughest thing for new tactical shooters is to realize that the cover is still good even if you three feet back.

Sounds like you had a great time Phil

Are you talking about me or who shot the car? Should I have been farther from the vehicle?

Phil, The site allignment vs muzzle issue was the person who hit the car, but everyone tends to hug the cover when there isn't neccesarily the need. While crowding the cover restricts your movement, move back a little and you'll see how much opens up to you for moving and gaining position. Try it with your airsoft a little and see before taking this process to the range.
